the Tres Culturas del Mediterráneo Foundation ran a very special activity as part of the CARPET project, an initiative devoted to fostering cultural dialogue and coexistence between generations through art in Seville.
At the Morocco Pavilion, artists and participants of different ages —more than 70 children from the Búho Project and residents of the San Juan de Dios care home— came together for painting and ceramics workshops designed to encourage creative exchange and intergenerational collaboration.
Among the artists involved was Pilar Sáenz, a Sevillian sculptor whose career connects art and humanity. Within the CARPET project, Pilar not only helped lead workshops in Seville, she was also awarded an artist residency in Coimbra and Cerdeira (Portugal). There she developed her work Aceptación, an artistic proposal inspired by the natural surroundings and by the idea of accepting our own imperfections and those of others, showing how art can become a bridge between different experiences and emotions.
Thanks to initiatives like this one, Pilar Sáenz reaffirms her commitment to art as a tool for encounter, dialogue and social transformation, weaving creative processes together with human values that leave a mark both on the community and on her own development as an artist.
